Beginning Green Level Lessons
Begin with the Beginning Green Level if your student is in third grade or younger and is still learning letters and letter sounds. This level is also appropriate for older student who need extra support with phonological awareness.

This level is perfect for students starting from scratch or needing extra support. It focuses on mastering key phonics and consonant sounds in a structured, step-by-step way, building a strong foundation for their reading journey.

Each concept is taught step-by-step to ensure full understanding before moving on, making it ideal for learners who need extra time. The Green Level builds a strong foundation in reading, addressing the basics with care and precision.

Master phonemic awareness and word attack strategies to read basic words and sentences with long and short vowel sounds.
Build recognition of many sight words for foundational reading fluency.

Student will read at about a second grade level at completion of the Green Level.

Overlapping Strategy Lessons
Begin with the Overlapping Strategy Level if your student is in the third grade or older, knows letter sounds and has some splintered reading skills.

This entry point into the Stevenson program is ideal for students in grades 3-12 who know most letter sounds but struggle with fluency, spelling, grammar, vocabulary, and comprehension. The overlapping strategy helps build confidence quickly, by moving at a faster pace. This level combines the Beginning Green Level with part of the Basic Blue Level, using one Student Book and one teacher manual. When finished with the Overlapping Student book, Students will be ready to begin the Basic Blue Level at about lesson nine.

The Overlapping Strategy is designed for older students who feel discouraged about reading. It’s engaging, builds skills and confidence quickly, as it combines the Beginning Green level with the first part of Basic Blue to jumpstart learning. Older students who never thought they would be able to read, often feel such a sense of relief after just a few lessons. The overlapping strategy can be life changing for many older student who have not been able to learn to read with other intervention programs.

Learn how to decode unknown words through seven special steps, a unique sequence, and mnemonic clues to aid learning and memory. Students start reading after just a couple of lessons and will be able to read and comprehend text at approximately a 2nd-grade level when finished with the Overlapping Student book. Next they will be ready to dive into the Basic Blue Level for more advanced vowel patterns and concepts.
Develop writing skills, learn new vocabulary, increase comprehension skills.
Advance to the 9th lesson of the Basic Blue Level.
