Overlapping Strategy Set- Complete Set for 8 Students!
The Complete Overlapping Strategy Set includes everything you need to teach 8 older struggling readers! This set should be used for students in grades 3 and higher for students who have some splinter reading skills and know at least most consonant sounds. Teachers have been successful using this program with both elementary age, middle and high school students! We also have adult learners who began their reading journey with this set.
Students who are ready for this level will gain reading skills quickly, as it overlaps the first 2 levels of the Stevenson reading program. The overlapping strategy ends partway through the Blue level. Included in this set are the rest of the Blue level student books and the Blue Level Manual! You will be able to help your student move quickly by starting with the overlapping strategy, and then moving through the entire blue series! Included in this set is an assessment set to monitor progress and ensure your students stay on track. Once this series of lessons is completed, your students will be ready for the Peach Series multi-syllabic and other more advanced word patterns.

The Overlapping Strategy is a way of covering essential ingredients of Stevenson’s Beginning Green Level and overlapping them with the second level, the Basic Blue. The way that the Stevenson Program is designed, all students need to start at the beginning one way or another. This approach allows them to build a solid foundation and to learn certain key mnemonic strategies that can be used with both simple one-syllable words and sophisticated multi-syllable words. By overlapping the content of the first two levels, older students can move through the program more quickly. To implement this strategy, teachers will need the two Overlapping Strategy books as well as the Basic Blue Level Core Manual, Basic Blue Reading Books One, Two and Three and Workbooks A, B and C. (Other supplementary materials are optional.) These books will be covered in approximately one academic year before the student moves on to the Intermediate Level of the Stevenson Program.
