Path 1

Begin with a Beginning Green Level Set if your student does not know letters and letter sounds.

  • Starting with the Beginning Green Level set is ideal for younger students in grades 1-3 who are just starting out or may be struggling with consonant sounds. Older students who have more significant learning challenges should also begin here.

Once the Beginning Green level is complete, students move on to the Basic Blue Level set and then the Peach Level set.

  • Students learn essential foundational reading skills in a very specific and sequential way. The Green Level lessons help students make sense of phonetic based concepts using mnemonic clues to assist with learning and memory.

Stevenson’s special scope and sequence, specific steps, and multi-sensory mnemonic techniques help students gain essential pre-reading and reading skills that they will remember and build upon during each subsequent lesson. The Green Level lessons weave together all 5 essential components of reading, to ensure a solid and comprehensive foundation.

    • Master phonemic awareness and word attack strategies.

    • Build recognition of many sight words for foundational reading fluency.

    • Learn visualization techniques to expand vocabulary and enhance comprehension.

    • Develop writing skills through structured, engaging activities.

    • Increase overall fluency and understanding of texts.

    • Will read approximately the same number of words as a traditional second grade level at completion of the Green Level.
